Welcome to Author Coach™! Do you have a passion for writing? Have you always wanted to publish a book? Have you tried, only to be tripped up by the demands of life and the obstacle courses created by publishers or agents? Well, now you can have someone on your side, helping you to overcome those obstacles and fulfill your dream. With Author Coach, you can work with a veteran book editor to help motivate you, shape your concept, provide substantive editorial feedback, and even line-edit your manuscript. And then we can even help you craft your query letter and put together a submission list of agents or publishers. At Author Coach, we help writers reach the finish line! Who are we? Author Coach was created by veteran book editor-turned-literary agent, Andrew Zack. After years in the publishing industry, working on both sides of the desk as an editor and later a literary agent, Andy saw the increasing numbers of free-lance editors and “book doctors” and the valuable services they provide for so many authors. But who are these “book doctors” and what are their qualifications? For many, finding the right free-lance editor or book doctor is a completely hit-or-miss proposition. With Author Coach, that's no longer the case. Why do you need an author coach? The editorial role in publishing houses has morphed from in-house champion for an author’s book to middle manager. Acquisitions and covers are decided upon by committee. Editorial work is often left to the paid-by-the-page copyeditor who has never met or even spoken to the author. Because of this, more and more agents have taken over the editorial role, but there is only so much they can do. Thus, the growing use of book doctors and free-lance editors. But Author Coach is far more than a place to find a book doctor or free-lance editor. Your Author Coach is there to not simply edit, but to motivate, to brainstorm, to mentor, and to help keep you on track with your goals. Your Coach may recommend reading for you to do, exercises to help strengthen your writing skills, or help you find a writers’ group to further hone your abilities. No matter what your genre or subject area—from science to science fiction, from history to historical fiction, from relationships to romance novels, and from narrative nonfiction to creative nonfiction— we have the right Author Coach for you. What will an author coach do for you? The concept is simple. For an hourly rate or monthly fee, you can employ a New York publishing house veteran editor to work directly with you, one-on-one. Do you need a weekly check-in to help keep you cranking out the pages? Your personal Author Coach can do that. Do you need to brainstorm your plot or characters? Your personal Author Coach can do that. Have you finished your manuscript and need an objective opinion? Your personal Author Coach can do that. be riding America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe for the second
time. This is a 100-mile bike ride and I will be training from January through
May with
Team in Training, part of
the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
To support my ride, I will be fundraising for LLS and must reach my goal in
order to participate. This is my fifth TNT century and I confess my family and
friends may be suffering a bit of "donation fatigue." Therefore, I am
offering authors a rare opportunity. You can submit a chapter (not to exceed 25
pages) and synopsis (not to exceed 5 pages) and I will read that chapter and
respond with my thoughts. The catch? You must donate at least $100 to the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society using this link:
http://pages.teamintraining.org/sd/ambbr10/azacka.
You MUST include your receipt showing you donated to my effort with your
submission. All donations are fully tax-deductible and Author Coach, LLC.
receives no income from this offer. This is purely a charity fundraising
effort. All submissions must be made by US Mail and include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Your submission will be reviewed and you will receive a one- to two-page evaluation of your work. This evaluation may help you revise your work and improve your chances of finding an agent or publisher. Please read our guidelines and properly format your work. See http://www.authorcoach.com/msprep.htm for formatting help. Our mailing address is: Author Coach, LLC Thank you in advance for your support of Team in Training and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
